Your father must have been one of my oldest acquaintances. I am sure you know that we were both in Cambridge together, both in Peterhouse, both doing the Mechanical Sciences trips. Both I the Baptist Student’s Society, but only together for one year. The contacts of the subsequent years have been slight, but enough to keep prayerful interest alive. Especially when he moved to Stafford and became so involved I the life of Rising Brook. We celebrate a man of God, strong in his personal faith, loyal to his church; his faith apparent in every aspect of his life. We were especially moved to welcome him briefly into our home here, when he had been persuaded to take a brief holiday from his daily visits to see your mother in her Care home. Even the strongest of us can be surprised by the emotions that bereavement brings. Margaret and I promise to hold you, your wife, and your family in our prayers as you leave David with his Lord. May you know the peace that passes all understanding. It is now over sixty years since I was Ordained and inducted at Rising Brook, and also over sixty since Margaret and I were married there. Rising Brook still has a special place in our hearts and prayers
