B 9th December 2020

I want to express my deep sympathy for the loss that you and the rest of the family will be experiencing. It seems remarkable that only last year David was cheerfully driving to Cardiff and back in a day, and enjoying Geoff and Marion’s diamond celebrations in between; he would even have fetched me from Newcastle as well if that had been necessary. I have valued the long contact with your family – over three generations, since I heard David’s father tell of his volunteer visit in retirement (six months I believe) to install electricity in an African town or village. David had the same generous willingness to use his talents in the service of others. We remember too his devoted care of Joy during her long illness. May God bless you and the family as you suffer the pain of bereavement, and yet are able to give thanks for a life well lived in the joy of being a good and faithful servant.
