I first met David when I began my ministry in Cambridge at Zion Baptist Church where David was already a regular worshipper at the Sunday morning service. I was a newly ordained ex student from Spurgeon’s College beginning my life in ministry. We quickly made friends and kept in touch across the years especially in my retirement years, most of which were spent in Cambridge. David always made contact when he returned to Peterhouse. David was the best kind of deacon – warm hearted, reliable, gifted, supportive and steadfastly committed to Christ in every aspect of his life. He was devoted to his family and rejoiced in your blessings and achievements. I greatly valued his warm friendship and particularly admired his care of Joy in the closing years of their very happy marriage.
