A tribute to our friend - David.

What can we say?
There are really no words to say how very very sad we all are for the  enormous loss of losing David.
He was so prayerfully kind and concerned when my own dear father stared to deteriorate badly last year. It was always a source of tremendous strength to me. He was so happy to hear how my dad had settled in Weston House.  We used to chat on the phone about all sorts of things and I found him easy to talk to. There were always words of wisdom from him. As well as fun and laughter!
He was the father of our small group. when he spoke, we all listened carefully. He was so loved and respected!
His Bible studies were incredible and his  quiz questions, impossible! It was a source of such amusement to him to catch us out!

When I think back to those early days when we first met, I think of David and Joy together.
David and Joy cared for us when we first moved to Stafford and first started attending RBBC in 1990. David knew our names after week one. He delighted in seeing the kids every week and was particularly amused  when they used to attempt to climb the pillars outside the front door of the old church.
David and Joy prayed earnest for our family, particularly in the awful times in 1996, when we lost 2 close members of our family to the terrorist conflict in Sri Lanka. I was devastated. They were there for us.
I am reminded also how David visited my parents home in Little Haywood to hear how my dad had fared when he went to Sri Lanka to help and set up a charity after the 2004 Tsunami . They were interested always and prayed for us.
He looked after Joy so wonderfully well and modelled what love should look like.
In the last few years, I got such tremendous support from David when members of my family were gravely ill. He prayed, listened and we talked. He was truly joyful when things worked out and offered comfort when they didn’t.
He and Chris chatted about things engineering, and Chris used to marvel even very recently, at the depth of his knowledge and his ability to solve a problem even when it wasn’t related to his field. Innovative, imaginative and so very clever and wise too.
He loved his family fiercely
He was so proud of you all
We loved him very much too
This is an enormous loss and we grieve with you.
You walk in the footsteps of a great and beloved man. God is with you.

One last thing- a tribute to the family

you cared for David round he clock when he deteriorated. You managed to honour David’s wishes to stay at home in his last days.
In my work, I come across end of life situations quite a bit.
You did all of it - exceptionally well.
